Day 1: Day 1: Morioka

Stop At: Morioka Sansa Odori Festival, 12-2 Uchimaru, Morioka 020-0015 Iwate Prefecture
Enjoy the Morioka Sansa Odori Festival in the main street of Morioka city. This festival is held every year from August 1-4th.
Not only can you watch this festival, but you can also join in after the parade with the wa-odori dance.
The Taiko, or Japanese Drum section of the parade held on the 4th of August each year, holds the Guinness World record for the largest number of Taiko drummers performing in one parade.
Duration: 2 hours 30 minutes

Day 2: Day 2: Kakunodate and Akita

Stop At: Kakunodatemachi, Semboku 014-0300 Akita Prefecture
Stroll through the Kakunodate Former Samurai District.
This area has many former Samurai residences still intact today, some of which have been turned into shops and restaurants, and others that have been preserved to give you a sense of Samurai daily life. You can enter these for a small fee.
The cherry blossoms in this area are also very famous, as the colors of the cherry blossoms and the dark wood fences of the Samurai residences look beautiful together.

Stop At: Akita Kanto Festival, Kyokuhokusakae-machi, Akita 010-0922 Akita Prefecture
Enjoy the impressive Akita Kanto Festival in the main street of Akita City.
In this festival many different groups perform tricks with long sticks covered in lanterns. It is quite impressive to see them hold these lanterns up with just one hand, or even on their heads!

View the impressive rice patty art in Inakadatemura.
Each year they create a different design in the field using different varieties of rice, which grow different colored.

Stop At: Goshogawara Tachineputa Matsuri, 21-1 Omachi, Goshogawara 037-0063 Aomori Prefecture
View the amazing Gosogawara Tachi-Neputa Festival.
The floats used in this festival are built differently to the Nebuta floats in Aomori city. Instead of being low and wide, they are extremely tall, and tower over spectators.
