We might enjoy lunch at some of their iconic eaterys like Road Kill Cafe or Delgadillo's Snow Cap, home of the world's biggest hot dog! In fact, Angel Delgadillo is not only this small town's barber but a huge Route 66 enthusiast who started the very first organization in this country for the preservation of Historic Route 66! Let us see what is considered to be the Mother Road of Route 66 in Kingman Arizona! Predating the declaration in 1926 of "Route 66", it was originally built for the stream of prospectors looking to stake a claim in the Oatman Gold Rush of 1902! There's plenty to see and do in Kingman including some awesome museums that are a must The Mojave Museum of History and Art, The Powerhouse Visitor Center, and The Arizona Route 66 Museum!

Stop At: Cool Springs Station

Two very cool places to see along our travels today are Radiator Springs and Cool Springs Station both having been immortalized in the Disney/Pixar animated movie series "Cars"! It seems that knowing where Springs were on the highway as you traveled was very important to drivers who needed to top off their radiators in the desert heat And! And of course Cool Springs Station was the last service station before heading up into the Black Mountains. There is a historic building with old-fashioned gas pumps that serves as a gift shop and a museum. Depending on the day there are a number of vendors including gem stone polishers and jewelry makers who set up their products to sell and have interesting stories to tell!

They love the visitors who take endless pictures and feed them hay cubes! The town is named after the little girl Olive Oatman who was captured by Indians and was kept as a slave and marked facially with tattoos before being released in a dramatic rescue at that time!
